2 Nephi 25:8 Wherefore, they are of aworth unto the children of men, and he that supposeth that they are not, unto them will I speak particularly, and confine the words unto mine bown people; for I know that they shall be of great worth unto them in the clast days; for in that day shall they understand them; wherefore, for their good have I written them.
Isn't this interesting? ". . . for in that day shall they understand them . . ." I don't know if I really don't understand them or if I've been told so often in church how hard they are to understand that I just think I can't.
Mostly I think they say that Christ will come. Then I must agree "how great are the words of Isaiah!"
Also that although wars and unbelief will ravage and scatter the people of Israel, God will not forget His covenant with them and they will be gathered again. (That is pretty important, too -- you can trust God. He keeps His promises. Don't give up hope.) He also tells how they will be gathered -- by the restoration of his gospel and the ensuing priesthood authority being used again on Earth. We recognize many aspects of the LDS church in the prophesying of this restoration -- temples and Joseph Smith among them. And we know Joseph Smith didn't make this up since it is in everyone's Bible and has been for century upon century. Truth by more than one witness.
So maybe that wasn't such a weird thing for Nephi to say. I do understand the writings of Isaiah and they are plain -- maybe because they are things I already know. But . . . would I know them without Isaiah? I need to be more grateful to him than I realized.
