Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling

On page 23, Lucy describes a dream she had about her husband where she sees him as a tree.  He seems all the more beautiful to her because he bends in the wind and finds joy in it.

Lucy and Joseph Sr. had a hard go of it.  They were ruined financially because of the dishonesty of another and lost their farm because of it.  This "sentenced" them to a life of poverty -- working for others because they had no land of their own and never able to get ahead and always having to move around to a new farm to rent.  Still, they made do and managed to be happy.  Is this not like a tree which must bend in the wind?

I think our Father in Heaven approves not of financial success, but rather, of our ability to bend in the wind and still find joy in that wind as it moves through our branches.
