I've been thinking about pride, and after my last post about it, it kind of coalesced into a handy phrase to help me with some of my pride reactions.
"You don't have to be the best to be good."
To me it means, if you're good at something, that doesn't change just because there is someone better. True, isn't it? Of course it is. So, if I remember, then I don't need to be bugged if someone is better than me or if someone shows talent in the same area as I do. It's okay. The comparison to others doesn't change who I am independently. If I was good before, I am still good after.
It also means that I can be gracious and praise others and feel good about their accomplishments as well as my own.
I hope it means that. :)
