Nehemiah 1
Nehemiah prays that God will make a way for the Israelites to rebuild the temple. I am amazed at his boldness here. What a giant thing for which to pray! And yet he does so and with confidence . . . and the Lord answers his prayer!

Nehemiah 4
Nehemiah must put half his men on the walls to keep guard while the other half rebuild the temple. There is a spiritual parallel here. While we build our spirits, we must also be on guard for the things which will tear us down.

Nehemiah 6:3
"I am doing a great work and cannot come down." Love it! See the general conference talk last session about this. We need to be at work for the Lord and not leave it for other pursuits.

It may be that we have no wars now, so that we will read of the wars in scripture and more readily apply it to spiritual warfare. This way we see the spiritual war more clearly.
