Ambiguity is part of God's plan for us and as such, it's not proof that God doesn't exist or that a religion isn't "true." It's alright to say, "I don't know." But it might be even better to say, "I don't know, yet."

You should identify what is essential to your faith and what would be a faith-breaker. In this talk, Bro. Sweat refers to these as "negotiables" and "non-negotiables." For instance, it is essential to his faith that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that God gave it to Joseph Smith. HOW Joseph translated (hat, stones, with the book, without) doesn't matter to him.

He also talks about how much ambiguity even Joseph Smith had to grapple with in setting up the church. God always gave Joseph Smith one point at a time. When he reached that point, he gave him the next. Line upon line. Even at that time when so much revelation was poured out, it seemed like it was at once, but it wasn't. This is how God always works.

He finished by making the distinction that THE Restoration has not yet occurred. We often refer to the restoration of the organization of the church with Joseph Smith as "the restoration," but THE Restoration will be when we are restored to a state where we live with God. We haven't arrived yet. Continual revelation will get us there. Love that.
