Compassion

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

I don't think I've ever seen this scripture before but I sure do like it.  It's the same concept as in other places that whenever we live our lives righteously, including giving service, we are blessed for it.  Maybe the accountant in me likes this scripture so well.  It speaks of a literal payback. 

It also reinforces the concept that what we do for another we really do for the Lord.  While the person we are thinking of helping may not be reliable, the Lord will be reliable, so if we are truly doing the giving for the Lord, then there is no need to hesitate.  I like it.
