Another Lesson in Nauvoo

Speaking of Nauvoo, one of the missionaries we talked to while we were there was a young man on a music mission--meaning he came just for the summer to play trumpet for the Nauvoo band and various shows.  He also got to do tours and testimony bearing during the day.  You can serve more than once in this type of mission.  After he had served last summer, his father died.  He told us that he wanted to come back to Nauvoo because it comforted him to be in a place where so many saints had dealt with death bravely and continued to fight the good fight in spite of their pain.

Wow.  What a terrific insight.  We look to our pioneer heritage for a lot of things, but I'd never thought to look to it for comfort in death.  How right he is, though!  What wonderful examples of faith and that life goes on and that we are not alone.
