Relief Society lesson
George Albert Smith once had a buggy robe stolen from him. Pres. Smith said, "I wish we could find him, because he is probably cold and needs much more than that." He showed compassion instead of anger. I thought that I would struggle reacting that way, in our day with so much deception in the lives of people who do not want to work and receiving money anyway. I would wonder if I were right in assuming they really needed what they stole more than I did. Our teacher then shared a story about her own father who had a four-wheeler stolen from him. He said, "Well, I bet he is having a lot of fun." She said what a good example it was to her because the only other choice was anger and we have been commanded to forgive. When given the choice between anger and compassion, it is always better to choose compassion. It does not matter if we are right. We have made the right decision for our own emotional wellbeing and made the right decision in the sight of God!
