Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
This is the scripture that we are to focus on for this week's lesson. Fight. Finish. Keep. I need some stories. There are good running parallels here. The thing about running is that you're pretty much miserable the whole time. If you're not, you're not pushing hard enough. But when you're done, you feel great. You've earned your reward -- whatever that may be -- even if it is just to rest and feel great about yourself. What in life compares? What must we push at spiritually that could make me feel the same way? The difficulty comes I think because when we do good "He doth immediately bless you," as it says in the BoM, so doing good never feels miserable for long. Things that feel miserable at first? Boring sacrament meetings. Dull lessons for an entire three hour block. Taking time out of the day for scripture study. Nights when we're up late for FHE or family scripture study and everyone just wants to go to bed. Times when you feel like you're not doing well enough and you'll never be good enough.
But do we give up? NO!!! And herein lies the victory.
