Matthew 5

30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

We don't, of course, cut off body parts, but it does make sense for activities. For instance, I know some ladies who don't come to bookclub anymore because they felt like they became too contentious while there. So they don't come. I know a lady who gets angry when she plays baskeball. So she doesn't play basketball. I am not saying it is always the right answer, because you can learn a lot in overcoming your weaknesses and becoming patient where once you were not, but if it is hurting you spiritually, cutting it out of your life is better than driving the spirit away from you.
