Christ is teaching when a group of people break open the roof and lower in a sick man so that Christ can heal him. Christ is impressed with his faith and forgives his sins. The proud murmur and wonder how He can claim to forgive sins. Then Christ says this:
Luke 5:24But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
Again it is an example of how God teaches us spiritual truths by making a parallel in our temporal lives. A person who has sinned is sick spiritually, but we can't see it like we can a physical illness. It is therefore easier for us to see when physical sickness is healed, but as we watch, we learn, too how the spirit works. If we are wise, we realize how vastly more important the health of the spirit is compared to the health of the body.
