Day 14: Conference Issue

President Uchdorf's priesthood session talk on pride. Pride is when we think we are better than another person. Interesting, isn't it? We can be more skilled, more wealthy, more beautiful and there is no sin, but if we think we are better than another person because of any of those things, then it offends God. We are wrong. He wants that out of our hearts. Pride then is essentially about love, but not just love, also acceptance, and the valuing of all people.

The other thought I had about this is that thinking other people are better than you is also a way to fall into pride. If I think that people who are wealthy are better than me, then it leads to envy, which is a form of pride, and it also opens the way for me to think I am better than those who are poorer than me. Trapped again! Not to mention, it makes us fear man which is another sin, or at least something we are told not to do in scripture.
