Financial Class
Our teacher's daughter asked him once, "Why doesn't God make it so we just have everything we need?" He said his thoughts on this are two-pronged. One, it is so hard to define where the line is between wants and needs and how would it be decided how many wants would be too much or enough? Second, if everyone had what they needed/wanted, we would have no reason to share. Here is the more profound thought, of course. Sharing is part of our eternal development. Can we do it? How well do we do it? God never intended each of us to stand alone. As humans we come together and help one another. This is when we succeed. This is why we have accomplished so much. He used as his counterpoint argument a flock of antelope. When an antelope goes down, the rest of the herd only watches. Humans rush in and help one another -- or they should -- and they have a strong instinct to do so.
