Day 201: Unbroken

I am listening to an audio book about a man who was a Japanese POW. The author says that through humilation, the Japanese took away their prisoners and that degradation leads to a loss of identity and eventually any will to live. He says that dignity is as essential to a human as food and water, perhaps more so.

This made me think of Christ who was humiliated during his final hours on earth. What a wonderful example He is to all of us, though, as He held on to His identity throughout the ordeal. In our own lives, when we face degradation, we also must hold on to our identity as children of God. This is so valuable and is why we try to reinforce the concept so often to our youth (and our adults)!
