Day 183: Thinking

When church leaders tell us to "gather your family around you" and have scripture reading or prayer or family home evening, it never occurred to me how poignant that is. It seems like we are always together since we are in the same house, talking with each other, interacting with each other, bouncing off one another like a bin of lottery balls. But now that we are doing family scripture reading in the evenings, I realize how different it is for us to be in the same room engaged in the same thing. It is a completely different thing from just being in the same house. We are coming closer together as a family just from the opportunity to see ourselves together as a family. Benjamin at one year-old especially loves the time as he goes from lap to lap and clearly enjoys having everyone in the same room. He can tell it is different and he wants to be a part of us already. Probably more than the content of the scriptures, I see the value in the time we are spending as a family!
