Day 87: Couple Reading

Ether 3:2 " . . . Now behold, O Lord, and do not be angry with thy servant because of his weakness before thee . . ." This is where the brother of Jared is asking for light. Could it be that he was scared of the dark? If he was, there was nothing to be afraid of. Even if he wasn't, along the same lines, there was no physical need to have light in the barges. They all would have been fine. God did not need to answer this prayer in order to fulfill his purposes. And yet . . . the brother of Jared still goes to his God with the request. And . . . God grants his request. It is a beautiful example of the mercy of the Lord and His love for His children. But the brother of Jared is also an example to me that I can ask for things that may not be necessary in the grand plan of life, and still receive an answer.
